Where, Can We Find Happiness?

Some people look for love in the wrong places and many of us seek happiness in many of these same places. Our United States Constitution says that we have inalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, and most of us take seriously the search. Happiness Most of us, however, slips through our fingers like sand discovery, or for that matter, as the weather.

What a country! People still come from all over the world to claim their share of the American dream. There are actually many different dreams, are not there, but all of them are driven by the pursuit of happiness. And because grabbing our cake seems to be that life in America is all about, we are bombarded with advertisements for people who want to sell happiness in a thousand different ways; Pony pills and jewelry for safaris. For the most part, we are told that we need certain things to be happy, or if we fail to grow beyond anything we will be "losers."

These vendors happiness always remind me of the following quotes:

1 ".'s Life but a walking shadow, a poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing is heard no more." (Macbeth - Act 5, Scene 5).

2 "Meaningless! Nonsense, says the Master. Makes no sense! Everything is meaningless." . And again: "All things are wearisome, more than one can say that the eye never has enough of seeing, nor the ear its fill of hearing what has been will be, what has been done will be done again; . nothing new under the sun "(Ecclesiastes 1 :. 2: 8-9).

It's a puzzle is not it? We believe that some things and some people make us happy, and to be sure that often give us at least the momentary joy, but is fleeting; as the morning dew, or the feeling of the first kiss. This is why so many people tired of the rat race, and very angry with the human race, decided to retire.

Let me suggest that the highest percentage of us have been looking for happiness in the wrong places. After spending much of our time and wads of money trying to find and buy what we think makes us happy, we find that the moths have eaten, or rust got to it, or thieves stole or just got tired of it - what ever. We find our happiness in the attic store in our garages, car spaces, or sell at garage sales. Then we started to look for something or someone new, to make us happy again.

Happiness, of course, do not live in one of these places and nobody has the right to try to sell us more than we can sell a piece of the moon with happiness, because happiness that never disappoints or leaves can spoil or rust 't, will not age and will not become obsolete, is the reward of being in communion with Jesus Christ. We'll talk more about what happiness looks like in future articles, but for now, let's "fix our eyes on Jesus" (Hebrews 12 :. 2).
